null First adjunct professorship awarded for CERADA
Dr. Guadalupe López-Íñiguez has been awarded an adjunct professorship (“dosentti” in Finnish) at the Center for Educational Research and Academic Development in the Arts (CERADA) in the University of the Arts Helsinki.
“It is a great pleasure for CERADA to receive its first Adjunct Professor. Doctor López-Íñiguez’s contribution to our research community will have great significance as she will help us develop research on higher education in the arts by means of various personal and collaborative, empirical, and practice-based research projects starting February 2018”, rejoices Professor Kai Lehikoinen, the Chairperson of CERADA’s steering group.
Adjunct Professor López-Íñiguez is a Spanish scholar-musician living in Helsinki. Her PhD in Psychology examined the psychological processes involved in acquiring musical knowledge among string instrument players, teachers and students from constructivist perspectives. Her current artistic and scientific research project at the Sibelius Academy, funded by the Kone Foundation, is on Beethoven’s and Mendelssohn’s cello works. She has published in international peer-reviewed journals and works as a cello performer and recording artist.
The examination process of this habilitation application started in the spring of 2017, including expert evaluations by renowned international scholars and artists, an open teaching demonstration with a national panel of reviewers, and the final acceptance by Rector Jari Perkiömäki of the adjunct professorship proposals by the Academic Council of the University of the Arts Helsinki and CERADA’s steering group.
