Intl Conference - Future(s) of dance education(s): Extended deadline 1st July!
Future(s) of dance education(s): possibilities & challenges
International Conference in Trondheim, Norway, April 23-25, 2020
EXTENDED DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: July 1st 2019
Welcome to an international conference for dance practitioners, teachers and researchers, within the field of dance education in pre-school, primary school, upper secondary school, higher education, cultural school, private dance school and other educational environments.
The objective of the conference:
The functions of dance education are changing in tandem with social, cultural and political changes. Therefore, it is timely to reflect critically on and adapt educational practices in dance. Such reflection addresses for example lifelong learning, resilience, embodied and holistic learning, but also the individual willingness to take risks and confront habitual modes of working and go beyond normative boundaries. With this conference we want to illuminate the power of the art of dance in society and in people´s lives.
Based on the current momentum of interests in the potential of arts education, the conference aims to illuminate research and practices, which focus on these issues and facilitate the possibility to strengthen the field and to exchange knowledge. The creation of new networks hopefully results in initiating new research projects.
Visioning possible and alternative futures helps us take informed steps in constructing new opportunities for dance, dance education and dance educational research in many different contexts.
The conference is hosted by the Department of Teacher Education, NTNU Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim, Norway, in collaboration with Uniarts Helsinki´s CERADA, Stockholm University of the Arts – DOCH and SANS, Norway (Center for dance practice, previous Dance in School/Dans i skolen).
The Conference program is co-produced with DansiT (Regional Center for Dance in Trondheim and Mid Norway). They are holding their annual dance festival, Multiplié simultaneously with this conference. The goal of Multiplié is to create an arena that brings people together, breaks barriers, challenges and surprises, and to build bridges between communities, cultures, bodies and age groups. If you have the opportunity, we warmly recommend spending a couple of days extra to join in the festivities. More information on the festival will be uploaded at www.dansit.no.
